In the name of the moon

 Way back in that ancient time known as the 1990's, a certain show began airing on Swedish television. Said show was of the animated variety and centered around a group of color-coded heroines (each named after a planet or celestial body), as they fought to protect the Earth from an evil witch-queen and her minions. 
Said show was, as you've already guessed,  Bishoujo Senshi (Pretty Guardian) Sailor Moon or Sailor Moon, for short..
 

Sailor Moon was (along with Pokémon) the first anime I watched with the explicit knowledge that it was an anime and although I've since read the original Naoko Takeuchi manga, the anime is something I hadn't watched it since I was a child. As such, I figured that it was high-time I revisited it, in the original Japanese (with subtitles), this time.
 

As of publishing post, I've finished the second season, Sailor Moon R, which means that I have not only caught up where I left off (the last episode I recall having watched as a kid was the last one of the anime-only story-arc featuring the two aliens and their tree), but that I've also seen every episode that was dubbed into Swedish back in the day. 
 

To be entirely truthful, I was not a regular viewer of Sailor Moon growing up. I'd watch an episode if I happened to catch it, but I can't say that it was a show I went out of my way to watch. 
 

As such, while there were episodes I remember having seen before, such as the one in which main heroine Usagi's brother gets an evil pet, or the season one finale in which all the other Sailor Scouts fall in battle to  Queen Beryl's minions (something that the Swedish dub did not censor I might add. Oh, and spoilers for a thirty-plus year anime I guess), there were others that were completely knew to me (not counting the ones from Sailor Moon R that I obviously hadn't seen before).
 

More than any individual episode or story-arc though, the aspects of Sailor Moon that have stayed with me over the years are the opening-theme, the visuals, the transformation sequences and, of course, the Sailor Scouts themselves.
 

While it may not be one of my favorite anime, I've found Sailor Moon to be an entertaining watch. I'm glad I decided to reacquaint myself with Usagi, Ami, Rei and all the others and will continue to do so.
